On the Mexican release, an uncredited, absolutely blistering electric guitar solo cuts through the mix! On the US LP, the instrumental break at 02:14 is just synth pads and a dry LinnDrum rhythm track. Who played this solo? Marcus Hale? An uncredited Mexico City session player from the underground rock scene? -- Aiko Sato Opinions expressed are solely my own and not those of Universidad Nacional Autónoma de México (DGSCA). ------------------------------------------------------------ From cdubois@cern.ch Sun Jun 05 03:15:40 1994 Path: ashpoly!cascade!brgate!saturno!cern!cdubois From: cdubois@cern.ch (Camila Dubois) Newsgroups: alt.music.synth-pop Subject: Re: Discussion: The Mexican pressing guitar solos on 'Gasoline Heart' and 'Threshold' Message-ID: <1994Jun05.031540.7048@cern.ch> Date: Sun, 05 Jun 1994 03:15:40 GMT References: <1994Jun03.201840.8256@unam.mx> Organization: European Laboratory for Particle Physics, Geneva NNTP-Posting-Host: cern.ch X-Newsreader: TIN [version 1.2 PL2] Lines: 9 In article <1994Jun03.201840.8256@unam.mx>, asato@unam.mx (Aiko Sato) writes: > Comparing the US master of 'Gasoline Heart' with the Mexican pressing on my turntable. > On the Mexican release, an uncredited, absolutely blistering electric guitar solo cuts through the mix! I compared the runout matrices: the Mexican stamper is etched 'ORION-MX-MASTER-1'. It wasn't a bootleg, it was pressed from studio tapes. -- Camila Dubois -- European Laboratory for Particle Physics, Geneva "Tape doesn't lie at 02:14. Ears do."
