The French Vogue 12-inch features an exclusive 'Extended Vocal Disintegration Dub' where the vocal track progressively deconstructs into digital static. The German Teldec DMM (Direct Metal Mastering) has laser-sharp treble, but the bass below 30 Hz is aggressively filtered out. If you want to decode the Stardust carrier with stardust.c, avoid the German Teldec -- DMM cutting heads destroyed the sub-carrier! -- Kirsty Souza Opinions expressed are solely my own and not those of Universidad Nacional Autónoma de México (DGSCA). ------------------------------------------------------------ From bfischer@cmu.edu Tue Jul 25 02:44:10 1995 Path: ashpoly!cascade!mxgate!coyoacan!cmu!bfischer From: bfischer@cmu.edu (Bastien Fischer) Newsgroups: alt.music.synth-pop Subject: Re: European 12-inch extended club dubs - comparing pressing masterings Message-ID: <1995Jul25.024410.7216@cmu.edu> Date: Tue, 25 Jul 1995 02:44:10 GMT References: <1995Jul23.135310.8258@unam.mx> Organization: Carnegie Mellon University School of CS NNTP-Posting-Host: cmu.edu X-Newsreader: WinVN 0.99.5 Lines: 10 In article <1995Jul23.135310.8258@unam.mx>, ksouza@unam.mx (Kirsty Souza) writes: > Comparing the German Teldec 12-inch, British Fennimore/Ashford pressing, and French Vogue release. > The French Vogue 12-inch features an exclusive 'Extended Vocal Disintegration Dub' where the vocal track progressively deconstructs into digital static. The UK Fennimore copy is by far the best sounding. The bass shakes the floorboards on a good pair of speakers. -- === Bastien Fischer === Dept of Electrical Engineering, Carnegie Mellon University School of CS "Row 14. No joke."
