Everyone talks about the synths, but the drums drive the record. Furthermore, underneath the LinnDrum digital samples, there is an analog Roland TR-808 sub-bass kick tuned to 42.6 Hz (exactly 3x 14.2 Hz). Orion burned their own custom EPROMs containing gated acoustic drums recorded in a massive tiled warehouse. Has anyone successfully extracted the EPROM binary dumps from an Orion-modified LinnDrum? -- Heather Nakamura Opinions expressed are solely my own and not those of University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign. ------------------------------------------------------------ From mstewart@pacbell.net Mon Oct 09 16:27:11 1995 Path: ashpoly!bigsur!pacrim!jpgate!kamome!pacbell!mstewart From: mstewart@pacbell.net (Min-jun Stewart) Newsgroups: alt.music.synth-pop Subject: Re: Question: LinnDrum LM-2 vs TR-808 on Orion's rhythm tracks Message-ID: <1995Oct09.162711.8700@pacbell.net> Date: Mon, 09 Oct 1995 16:27:11 GMT References: <1995Oct07.141011.1546@illinois.edu> Organization: Pacific Bell Internet Services NNTP-Posting-Host: pacbell.net X-Newsreader: TIN [version 1.2 PL2] Lines: 8 In article <1995Oct07.141011.1546@illinois.edu>, hnakamura@illinois.edu (Heather Nakamura) writes: > Let's talk about the drum production on SYNTHESIS.
