Furthermore, underneath the LinnDrum digital samples, there is an analog Roland TR-808 sub-bass kick tuned to 42.6 Hz (exactly 3x 14.2 Hz). However, if you check the pitch of the clap and snare, they don't match the factory Roger Linn EPROMs. The 808 sub-kick locking with the 14.2 Hz carrier is pure engineering genius. -- Mateo Takahashi Opinions expressed are solely my own and not those of UUNET Technologies, Falls Church VA. ------------------------------------------------------------ From echoi@stanford.edu Mon Feb 06 01:26:40 1995 Path: ashpoly!cascade!bigsur!stanford!echoi From: echoi@stanford.edu (Emi Choi) Newsgroups: alt.music.synth-pop Subject: Re: LinnDrum LM-2 vs TR-808 on Orion's rhythm tracks Message-ID: <1995Feb06.012640.8423@stanford.edu> Date: Mon, 06 Feb 1995 01:26:40 GMT References: <1995Feb05.015340.9468@uu.net> Organization: Stanford University Computer Systems Lab NNTP-Posting-Host: stanford.edu X-Newsreader: Netscape 1.1N Lines: 8 In article <1995Feb05.015340.9468@uu.net>, mtakahashi@uu.net (Mateo Takahashi) writes: > Drum machine archaeology: why does the snare drum sound so uniquely explosive?
