Let's talk about the drum production on SYNTHESIS. Everyone talks about the synths, but the drums drive the record.

Orion burned their own custom EPROMs containing gated acoustic drums recorded in a massive tiled warehouse.
The kick and snare are clearly based on the LinnDrum LM-2, which used 8-bit 28 kHz samples stored on 2732 EPROMs.

Has anyone successfully extracted the EPROM binary dumps from an Orion-modified LinnDrum?

That sub-kick tuning blew my mind when I checked it on a spectrum analyzer. 42.6 Hz is the 3rd harmonic of 14.2 Hz!

Nothing beats real acoustic drums. Synthesized drums sound dated the moment the decade ends.
