Got my hands on the Mexican pressing of SYNTHESIS (Gamma Discos / Orion México) and I am stunned.

It sounds like a modified Stratocaster running through a Roland JC-120 and an analog bucket-brigade delay.
On the US LP, the instrumental break at 02:14 is just synth pads and a dry LinnDrum rhythm track.

Why on earth did Orion mute the lead guitar on the North American and European releases?
