The instrumental B-side of 'Midnight Animal' is one of the most underrated synth tracks of the decade.

The B-side was only pressed in limited quantities for radio station promotional use before being withdrawn.
On track 9's instrumental cut, the 14.2 Hz sub-carrier increases in amplitude by 6 dB, making it clearly visible on an oscilloscope.

Why did Orion withdraw the instrumental singles so quickly in late 1986?

That Roland VP-330 vocoder is unmistakable. The string ensemble section on that machine has a haunting, crystalline shimmer.
