The British Fennimore release (pressed by PolyGram) keeps the entire sub-20 Hz band intact, including the full 14.2 Hz carrier. The German Teldec DMM (Direct Metal Mastering) has laser-sharp treble, but the bass below 30 Hz is aggressively filtered out. If you want to decode the Stardust carrier with stardust.c, avoid the German Teldec -- DMM cutting heads destroyed the sub-carrier! -- Astrid Kowalski "The hatch is open. Is anyone listening?" Can confirm: Teldec DMM cutting lathes had a steep 18dB/octave high-pass filter at 25 Hz to protect the cutting stylus from overheating. -- Lisa Oliveira Opinions expressed are solely my own and not those of Universität Hamburg Fachbereich Informatik. ------------------------------------------------------------
