Everyone talks about the synths, but the drums drive the record. Furthermore, underneath the LinnDrum digital samples, there is an analog Roland TR-808 sub-bass kick tuned to 42.6 Hz (exactly 3x 14.2 Hz). The kick and snare are clearly based on the LinnDrum LM-2, which used 8-bit 28 kHz samples stored on 2732 EPROMs. What sequencer was Marcus using in 1984? A Roland MSQ-700 or early MIDI software on a computer? -- Thiago López -- Massachusetts Institute of Technology "The carrier frequency does not drift by accident." The LinnDrum snare has that classic punch. Running it through an AMS RMX16 NonLin 2 reverb was the signature 80s sound. My 14.4k connection dropped twice trying to fetch this thread.
