Everyone talks about the synths, but the drums drive the record. Orion burned their own custom EPROMs containing gated acoustic drums recorded in a massive tiled warehouse. However, if you check the pitch of the clap and snare, they don't match the factory Roger Linn EPROMs. Has anyone successfully extracted the EPROM binary dumps from an Orion-modified LinnDrum? -- Anja Robertson -- University of Tokyo Department of Information Science "Row 14. The LinnDrum snare has that classic punch. Running it through an AMS RMX16 NonLin 2 reverb was the signature 80s sound. -- Mei Eriksson Opinions expressed are solely my own and not those of Royal Institute of Technology, Stockholm. ------------------------------------------------------------ From ssouza@kiae.su Sat Aug 19 20:56:29 1995 Path: ashpoly!cascade!brgate!saturno!kiae!ssouza From: ssouza@kiae.su (Sergei Souza) Newsgroups: alt.music.synth-pop Subject: Re: Discussion: LinnDrum LM-2 vs TR-808 on Orion's rhythm tracks Message-ID: <1995Aug19.205629.9536@kiae.su> Date: Sat, 19 Aug 1995 20:56:29 GMT References: <1995Aug19.000829.9451@u-tokyo.ac.jp> <1995Aug19.074029.2433@kth.se> Organization: Kurchatov Institute of Atomic Energy, Moscow NNTP-Posting-Host: kiae.su X-Newsreader: Netscape 1.1N Lines: 9 In article <1995Aug19.074029.2433@kth.se>, meriksson@kth.se (Mei Eriksson) writes: > The LinnDrum snare has that classic punch.
