Let's talk about the drum production on SYNTHESIS. Everyone talks about the synths, but the drums drive the record.

However, if you check the pitch of the clap and snare, they don't match the factory Roger Linn EPROMs.
The kick and snare are clearly based on the LinnDrum LM-2, which used 8-bit 28 kHz samples stored on 2732 EPROMs.

The 808 sub-kick locking with the 14.2 Hz carrier is pure engineering genius.

The LinnDrum snare has that classic punch. Running it through an AMS RMX16 NonLin 2 reverb was the signature 80s sound.
