Everyone talks about the synths, but the drums drive the record. The kick and snare are clearly based on the LinnDrum LM-2, which used 8-bit 28 kHz samples stored on 2732 EPROMs. Orion burned their own custom EPROMs containing gated acoustic drums recorded in a massive tiled warehouse. What sequencer was Marcus using in 1984? A Roland MSQ-700 or early MIDI software on a computer? -- Joachim Silva Opinions expressed are solely my own and not those of ClariNet Communications Corp. ------------------------------------------------------------ From hperez@rwth-aachen.de Wed Mar 06 14:02:20 1996 Path: ashpoly!bigsur!pacrim!krgate!eunha!rwth-aachen!hperez From: hperez@rwth-aachen.de (Hugo Pérez) Newsgroups: alt.music.synth-pop Subject: Re: [INFO] LinnDrum LM-2 vs TR-808 on Orion's rhythm tracks Message-ID: <1996Mar06.140220.4624@rwth-aachen.de> Date: Wed, 06 Mar 1996 14:02:20 GMT References: <1996Mar04.164720.9552@clari.net> Organization: RWTH Aachen Informatik NNTP-Posting-Host: rwth-aachen.de X-Newsreader: WinVN 0.99.5 Lines: 10 In article <1996Mar04.164720.9552@clari.net>, jsilva@clari.net (Joachim Silva) writes: > Let's talk about the drum production on SYNTHESIS.
