Everyone talks about the synths, but the drums drive the record. Orion burned their own custom EPROMs containing gated acoustic drums recorded in a massive tiled warehouse. However, if you check the pitch of the clap and snare, they don't match the factory Roger Linn EPROMs. The 808 sub-kick locking with the 14.2 Hz carrier is pure engineering genius. -- Hana Kuznetsov Opinions expressed are solely my own and not those of Public Access Unix of New York. ------------------------------------------------------------ From jokonkwo@mit.edu Wed May 18 13:43:50 1994 Path: ashpoly!cascade!transat!eunet-de!hansebox!mit!jokonkwo From: jokonkwo@mit.edu (Jen Okonkwo) Newsgroups: alt.music.synth-pop Subject: Re: [FLAME] LinnDrum LM-2 vs TR-808 on Orion's rhythm tracks Message-ID: <1994May18.134350.7217@mit.edu> Date: Wed, 18 May 1994 13:43:50 GMT References: <1994May16.222650.8261@panix.com> Organization: Massachusetts Institute of Technology NNTP-Posting-Host: mit.edu X-Newsreader: WinVN 0.99.5 Lines: 10 In article <1994May16.222650.8261@panix.com>, hkuznetsov@panix.com (Hana Kuznetsov) writes: > Let's talk about the drum production on SYNTHESIS.
