Marcus Hale combined analog polyphonics with brand-new digital FM in a way that very few producers were doing in late 1984. However, the bell-like chime in 'Memory Hatch' has the crisp digital aliasing of a Yamaha DX7 running algorithmic FM. What drum machine is that on 'Midnight Animal'? It sounds like a LinnDrum LM-2, but the hi-hat decay is too long. -- Dmitri Weber | dweber@cern.ch PGP Key fingerprint: ABC7 FEAE 0E23 54B0 "Keep the channels open." Analog purists are hilarious. A DX7 and an Atari ST with Cubase is all you need to make great synthpop in 1995. Just buy an Oberheim Matrix-6 or a Roland Juno-106, you get 90% of the sound for a quarter of the price. -- Anja Kuznetsov *PLONK* filter active for trolls. Sun SparcStation 20 - NetBSD 1.0
