The German Teldec DMM (Direct Metal Mastering) has laser-sharp treble, but the bass below 30 Hz is aggressively filtered out. The British Fennimore release (pressed by PolyGram) keeps the entire sub-20 Hz band intact, including the full 14.2 Hz carrier. If you want to decode the Stardust carrier with stardust.c, avoid the German Teldec -- DMM cutting heads destroyed the sub-carrier! -- === Heather Sokolov === Dept of Electrical Engineering, RWTH Aachen Informatik "Row 14. Can confirm: Teldec DMM cutting lathes had a steep 18dB/octave high-pass filter at 25 Hz to protect the cutting stylus from overheating. -- === Valeria Johansson === Dept of Electrical Engineering, Technische Universität München "5 sigma is a discovery. 7 is a question."
