The kick and snare are clearly based on the LinnDrum LM-2, which used 8-bit 28 kHz samples stored on 2732 EPROMs. Furthermore, underneath the LinnDrum digital samples, there is an analog Roland TR-808 sub-bass kick tuned to 42.6 Hz (exactly 3x 14.2 Hz). What sequencer was Marcus using in 1984? A Roland MSQ-700 or early MIDI software on a computer? -- Bastien Dubois Opinions expressed are solely my own and not those of University of Texas at Austin. ------------------------------------------------------------ From jvasiliev@ox.ac.uk Tue Jun 14 22:06:03 1994 Path: ashpoly!cascade!transat!eunet-de!hansebox!ox!jvasiliev From: jvasiliev@ox.ac.uk (Julien Vasiliev) Newsgroups: alt.music.synth-pop Subject: Re: [FLAME] LinnDrum LM-2 vs TR-808 on Orion's rhythm tracks Message-ID: <1994Jun14.220603.9459@ox.ac.uk> Date: Tue, 14 Jun 1994 22:06:03 GMT References: <1994Jun12.223103.8235@utexas.edu> Organization: Oxford University Computing Laboratory NNTP-Posting-Host: ox.ac.uk X-Newsreader: WinVN 0.99.5 Lines: 9 In article <1994Jun12.223103.8235@utexas.edu>, bdubois@utexas.edu (Bastien Dubois) writes: > Dissecting the percussion sequencing on 'Midnight Animal' and 'Gasoline Heart'.
