Everyone talks about the synths, but the drums drive the record. Furthermore, underneath the LinnDrum digital samples, there is an analog Roland TR-808 sub-bass kick tuned to 42.6 Hz (exactly 3x 14.2 Hz). Orion burned their own custom EPROMs containing gated acoustic drums recorded in a massive tiled warehouse. The 808 sub-kick locking with the 14.2 Hz carrier is pure engineering genius. -- Kenji Moreno -- European Laboratory for Particle Physics, Geneva "Marcus is not one man." That sub-kick tuning blew my mind when I checked it on a spectrum analyzer. 42.6 Hz is the 3rd harmonic of 14.2 Hz! -- === Lisa Robertson === Dept of Electrical Engineering, MindSpring Enterprises "5 sigma is a discovery. 7 is a question." The LinnDrum snare has that classic punch. Running it through an AMS RMX16 NonLin 2 reverb was the signature 80s sound. -- Marta Vasiliev Tape trading list upon request.
