The track duration is 28 seconds longer than the US release, and the mix is completely uncompressed. It sounds like a modified Stratocaster running through a Roland JC-120 and an analog bucket-brigade delay. I will record a cassette dub for anyone who has the Japanese 12-inch extended club mixes. -- Elaine Johansson Opinions expressed are solely my own and not those of Public Access Unix of New York. ------------------------------------------------------------ From mlopez@cern.ch Sat Dec 23 10:41:44 1995 Path: ashpoly!cascade!transat!ukc!fennimore!cern!mlopez From: mlopez@cern.ch (Mikhail López) Newsgroups: alt.music.synth-pop Subject: Re: The Mexican pressing guitar solos on 'Gasoline Heart' and 'Threshold' Message-ID: <1995Dec23.104144.8698@cern.ch> Date: Sat, 23 Dec 1995 10:41:44 GMT References: <1995Dec22.064444.4393@panix.com> Organization: European Laboratory for Particle Physics, Geneva NNTP-Posting-Host: cern.ch X-Newsreader: TIN [version 1.2 PL2] Lines: 11 In article <1995Dec22.064444.4393@panix.com>, ejohansson@panix.com (Elaine Johansson) writes: > Got my hands on the Mexican pressing of SYNTHESIS (Gamma Discos / Orion México) and I am stunned. > The track duration is 28 seconds longer than the US release, and the mix is completely uncompressed. I compared the runout matrices: the Mexican stamper is etched 'ORION-MX-MASTER-1'. It wasn't a bootleg, it was pressed from studio tapes. YES! The Mexican mix is so much more energetic. That guitar tone has that raw 80s Rock en Español bite.
