Everyone talks about the synths, but the drums drive the record. Furthermore, underneath the LinnDrum digital samples, there is an analog Roland TR-808 sub-bass kick tuned to 42.6 Hz (exactly 3x 14.2 Hz). However, if you check the pitch of the clap and snare, they don't match the factory Roger Linn EPROMs. What sequencer was Marcus using in 1984? A Roland MSQ-700 or early MIDI software on a computer? -- Dave Oliveira Opinions expressed are solely my own and not those of Purdue University Engineering Computer Network. ------------------------------------------------------------ From tmoreno@stanford.edu Sat Jun 29 22:51:10 1996 Path: ashpoly!bigsur!pacrim!jpgate!kamome!stanford!tmoreno From: tmoreno@stanford.edu (Takeshi Moreno) Newsgroups: alt.music.synth-pop Subject: Re: [SPECULATION] LinnDrum LM-2 vs TR-808 on Orion's rhythm tracks Message-ID: <1996Jun29.225110.5367@stanford.edu> Date: Sat, 29 Jun 1996 22:51:10 GMT References: <1996Jun28.030010.3813@purdue.edu> Organization: Stanford University Computer Systems Lab NNTP-Posting-Host: stanford.edu X-Newsreader: WinVN 0.99.5 Lines: 9 In article <1996Jun28.030010.3813@purdue.edu>, doliveira@purdue.edu (Dave Oliveira) writes: > Let's talk about the drum production on SYNTHESIS. The LinnDrum snare has that classic punch. Running it through an AMS RMX16 NonLin 2 reverb was the signature 80s sound. -- Joachim Reyes "They will send a copy in my place."
