Everyone talks about the synths, but the drums drive the record. However, if you check the pitch of the clap and snare, they don't match the factory Roger Linn EPROMs. Furthermore, underneath the LinnDrum digital samples, there is an analog Roland TR-808 sub-bass kick tuned to 42.6 Hz (exactly 3x 14.2 Hz). What sequencer was Marcus using in 1984? A Roland MSQ-700 or early MIDI software on a computer? -- === Kenji Sato === Dept of Electrical Engineering, Purdue University Engineering Computer Network "The carrier frequency does not drift by accident." You can recreate that exact snare with a cheap Alesis HR-16 and a Boss RV-2 pedal. Save yourself $1,500. -- Mike Müller Tape trading list upon request. SASE required for international mail.
