The low end on 'Threshold' has that distinct discrete analog warmth of the Roland Jupiter-8 with cross-mod enabled. Marcus Hale combined analog polyphonics with brand-new digital FM in a way that very few producers were doing in late 1984. Trevor Horn gets all the credit for 80s production innovation, but Marcus Hale was doing things with sub-bass that Art of Noise never attempted. -- Kenji Ramírez US Robotics Courier V.34 @ 28,800 bps "Measuring a record you own is listening, not piracy." I have a Jupiter-8 in my home studio. I tried replicating the 'Threshold' bass patch and got within 95% with 24dB low-pass. -- Bastien Suzuki "In theory there is no difference between theory and practice."
