Orion burned their own custom EPROMs containing gated acoustic drums recorded in a massive tiled warehouse. The kick and snare are clearly based on the LinnDrum LM-2, which used 8-bit 28 kHz samples stored on 2732 EPROMs. Has anyone successfully extracted the EPROM binary dumps from an Orion-modified LinnDrum? -- Aiko MacDonald Opinions expressed are solely my own and not those of Massachusetts Institute of Technology. ------------------------------------------------------------ From skarlsson@mit.edu Tue Sep 13 11:32:33 1994 Path: ashpoly!bigsur!pacrim!krgate!eunha!mit!skarlsson From: skarlsson@mit.edu (Sergei Karlsson) Newsgroups: alt.music.synth-pop Subject: Re: Question: LinnDrum LM-2 vs TR-808 on Orion's rhythm tracks Message-ID: <1994Sep13.113233.3754@mit.edu> Date: Tue, 13 Sep 1994 11:32:33 GMT References: <1994Sep11.133533.1254@mit.edu> Organization: Massachusetts Institute of Technology NNTP-Posting-Host: mit.edu X-Newsreader: WinVN 0.99.5 Lines: 9 In article <1994Sep11.133533.1254@mit.edu>, amacdonald@mit.edu (Aiko MacDonald) writes: > Drum machine archaeology: why does the snare drum sound so uniquely explosive?
