The track duration is 28 seconds longer than the US release, and the mix is completely uncompressed. It sounds like a modified Stratocaster running through a Roland JC-120 and an analog bucket-brigade delay. Who played this solo? Marcus Hale? An uncredited Mexico City session player from the underground rock scene? -- Marta Choi Opinions expressed are solely my own and not those of Demon Internet Services UK. ------------------------------------------------------------ From mkim@delphi.com Wed Aug 09 20:06:00 1995 Path: ashpoly!bigsur!pacrim!jpgate!kamome!delphi!mkim From: mkim@delphi.com (Morag Kim) Newsgroups: alt.music.synth-pop Subject: Re: Discussion: The Mexican pressing guitar solos on 'Gasoline Heart' and 'Threshold' Message-ID: <1995Aug09.200600.5217@delphi.com> Date: Wed, 09 Aug 1995 20:06:00 GMT References: <1995Aug09.142200.6210@demon.co.uk> Organization: Delphi Internet Services NNTP-Posting-Host: delphi.com X-Newsreader: TIN [version 1.2 PL2] Lines: 10 In article <1995Aug09.142200.6210@demon.co.uk>, mchoi@demon.co.uk (Marta Choi) writes: > Comparing the US master of 'Gasoline Heart' with the Mexican pressing on my turntable. > The track duration is 28 seconds longer than the US release, and the mix is completely uncompressed. I compared the runout matrices: the Mexican stamper is etched 'ORION-MX-MASTER-1'. It wasn't a bootleg, it was pressed from studio tapes. -- Morag Kim Hayes Optima 288 @ 28,800 bps "We don't sign stars. We build them."
