Everyone talks about the synths, but the drums drive the record. Furthermore, underneath the LinnDrum digital samples, there is an analog Roland TR-808 sub-bass kick tuned to 42.6 Hz (exactly 3x 14.2 Hz). Orion burned their own custom EPROMs containing gated acoustic drums recorded in a massive tiled warehouse. Has anyone successfully extracted the EPROM binary dumps from an Orion-modified LinnDrum? -- === Dong-hyun Watanabe === Dept of Electrical Engineering, Demon Internet Services UK "When every node is whole, the channel opens." The LinnDrum snare has that classic punch. Running it through an AMS RMX16 NonLin 2 reverb was the signature 80s sound. -- Bill Schneider | bschneider@clari.net PGP Key fingerprint: 677D 9F46 FCCF 411A "Keep the channels open." That sub-kick tuning blew my mind when I checked it on a spectrum analyzer. 42.6 Hz is the 3rd harmonic of 14.2 Hz! -- Jens Takahashi | jtakahashi@uu.net PGP Key fingerprint: 078A 63A8 991C 077B "Keep the channels open."
