The Stardust documents describe this as 'Vocal Matrix Modeling' running on custom DSP hardware. Did Marcus Hale invent real-time formant modeling DSP four years before anyone else in the industry? -- Tomas Hughes Opinions expressed are solely my own and not those of Public Access Unix of New York. ------------------------------------------------------------ From dmacdonald@netcom.com Tue Jun 07 10:17:58 1994 Path: ashpoly!cascade!brgate!saturno!netcom!dmacdonald From: dmacdonald@netcom.com (Dmitri MacDonald) Newsgroups: alt.music.synth-pop Subject: Re: [FLAME] The sound of the 'Vocal Matrix' - pitch quantization vs human formant Message-ID: <1994Jun07.101758.2689@netcom.com> Date: Tue, 07 Jun 1994 10:17:58 GMT References: <1994Jun05.150958.2146@panix.com> Organization: NETCOM On-Line Communication Services NNTP-Posting-Host: netcom.com X-Newsreader: Netscape 1.1N Lines: 11 In article <1994Jun05.150958.2146@panix.com>, thughes@panix.com (Tomas Hughes) writes: > As an audio engineer, listening to Nova's vocals on SYNTHESIS has always bothered me in a fascinating way. The CRE-7 engine simulated an entire nervous system. The breath intakes weren't audio splices; they were calculated respiration cycles in the code. -- Astrid Andersson "When every node is whole, the channel opens." Pentium 90 (OS/2 Warp) / SunOS 4.1.4
