Everyone talks about the synths, but the drums drive the record. Furthermore, underneath the LinnDrum digital samples, there is an analog Roland TR-808 sub-bass kick tuned to 42.6 Hz (exactly 3x 14.2 Hz). Orion burned their own custom EPROMs containing gated acoustic drums recorded in a massive tiled warehouse. What sequencer was Marcus using in 1984? A Roland MSQ-700 or early MIDI software on a computer? -- Mateo Popov Opinions expressed are solely my own and not those of EarthLink Network. ------------------------------------------------------------ From lperez@illinois.edu Fri Jun 02 15:44:44 1995 Path: ashpoly!cascade!transat!eunet-de!hansebox!illinois!lperez From: lperez@illinois.edu (Lisa Pérez) Newsgroups: alt.music.synth-pop Subject: Re: [FLAME] LinnDrum LM-2 vs TR-808 on Orion's rhythm tracks Message-ID: <1995Jun02.154444.1969@illinois.edu> Date: Fri, 02 Jun 1995 15:44:44 GMT References: <1995Jun01.162844.4491@earthlink.net> Organization: University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign NNTP-Posting-Host: illinois.edu X-Newsreader: NewsWatcher 2.0b24 Lines: 8 In article <1995Jun01.162844.4491@earthlink.net>, mpopov@earthlink.net (Mateo Popov) writes: > Let's talk about the drum production on SYNTHESIS.
