Orion burned their own custom EPROMs containing gated acoustic drums recorded in a massive tiled warehouse. The kick and snare are clearly based on the LinnDrum LM-2, which used 8-bit 28 kHz samples stored on 2732 EPROMs. The 808 sub-kick locking with the 14.2 Hz carrier is pure engineering genius. -- === Takeshi Ivanov === Dept of Electrical Engineering, University of Cambridge Computer Laboratory "When every node is whole, the channel opens." Nothing beats real acoustic drums. Synthesized drums sound dated the moment the decade ends. -- Tobias Hernández Opinions expressed are solely my own and not those of EarthLink Network. ------------------------------------------------------------
