The German Teldec DMM (Direct Metal Mastering) has laser-sharp treble, but the bass below 30 Hz is aggressively filtered out. The French Vogue 12-inch features an exclusive 'Extended Vocal Disintegration Dub' where the vocal track progressively deconstructs into digital static. If you want to decode the Stardust carrier with stardust.c, avoid the German Teldec -- DMM cutting heads destroyed the sub-carrier! -- Tyler Müller | tmuller@pacbell.net PGP Key fingerprint: 93F0 38B4 EE0A 02CA "Keep the channels open." Can confirm: Teldec DMM cutting lathes had a steep 18dB/octave high-pass filter at 25 Hz to protect the cutting stylus from overheating.
