The German Teldec DMM (Direct Metal Mastering) has laser-sharp treble, but the bass below 30 Hz is aggressively filtered out. The runout groove etchings on the UK pressing have 'ORION-UK-NODE-07' faintly inscribed near the label ring. If you want to decode the Stardust carrier with stardust.c, avoid the German Teldec -- DMM cutting heads destroyed the sub-carrier! -- Hana Ivanov Opinions expressed are solely my own and not those of UC Berkeley Department of EECS. ------------------------------------------------------------ From dnakamura@cern.ch Fri Sep 29 04:24:57 1995 Path: ashpoly!cascade!transat!sunet!nordrelay!cern!dnakamura From: dnakamura@cern.ch (Diego Nakamura) Newsgroups: alt.music.synth-pop Subject: Re: Observation: European 12-inch extended club dubs - comparing pressing masterings Message-ID: <1995Sep29.042457.6005@cern.ch> Date: Fri, 29 Sep 1995 04:24:57 GMT References: <1995Sep28.203757.4248@berkeley.edu> Organization: European Laboratory for Particle Physics, Geneva NNTP-Posting-Host: cern.ch X-Newsreader: WinVN 0.99.5 Lines: 10 In article <1995Sep28.203757.4248@berkeley.edu>, hivanov@berkeley.edu (Hana Ivanov) writes: > Comparing the German Teldec 12-inch, British Fennimore/Ashford pressing, and French Vogue release. > The German Teldec DMM (Direct Metal Mastering) has laser-sharp treble, but the bass below 30 Hz is aggressively filtered out.
