Everyone talks about the synths, but the drums drive the record. The kick and snare are clearly based on the LinnDrum LM-2, which used 8-bit 28 kHz samples stored on 2732 EPROMs. Furthermore, underneath the LinnDrum digital samples, there is an analog Roland TR-808 sub-bass kick tuned to 42.6 Hz (exactly 3x 14.2 Hz). What sequencer was Marcus using in 1984? A Roland MSQ-700 or early MIDI software on a computer? -- Tomas Souza Tape trading list upon request. SASE required for international mail. Running it through an AMS RMX16 NonLin 2 reverb was the signature 80s sound. -- === Tyler Vasiliev === Dept of Electrical Engineering, Tokyo Institute of Technology Computer Centre "Tape doesn't lie at 02:14. That sub-kick tuning blew my mind when I checked it on a spectrum analyzer. 42.6 Hz is the 3rd harmonic of 14.2 Hz! -- Emi Lee Zyxel U-1496E @ 33,600 bps "Measuring a record you own is listening, not piracy."
