Everyone talks about the synths, but the drums drive the record. Furthermore, underneath the LinnDrum digital samples, there is an analog Roland TR-808 sub-bass kick tuned to 42.6 Hz (exactly 3x 14.2 Hz). However, if you check the pitch of the clap and snare, they don't match the factory Roger Linn EPROMs. Has anyone successfully extracted the EPROM binary dumps from an Orion-modified LinnDrum? -- Yuki Tanaka *PLONK* filter active for trolls. 486DX4/100 (FreeBSD 2.0.5) - NetBSD 1.0 From mbrennan@kth.se Fri Nov 17 16:09:42 1995 Path: ashpoly!cascade!transat!eunet-de!hansebox!kth!mbrennan From: mbrennan@kth.se (Mathieu Brennan) Newsgroups: alt.music.synth-pop Subject: Re: WTB/WTT: LinnDrum LM-2 vs TR-808 on Orion's rhythm tracks Message-ID: <1995Nov17.160942.1002@kth.se> Date: Fri, 17 Nov 1995 16:09:42 GMT References: <1995Nov16.212642.6494@utexas.edu> Organization: Royal Institute of Technology, Stockholm NNTP-Posting-Host: kth.se X-Newsreader: TIN [version 1.2 PL2] Lines: 10 In article <1995Nov16.212642.6494@utexas.edu>, ytanaka@utexas.edu (Yuki Tanaka) writes: > Let's talk about the drum production on SYNTHESIS. The LinnDrum snare has that classic punch. Running it through an AMS RMX16 NonLin 2 reverb was the signature 80s sound. -- === Mathieu Brennan === Dept of Electrical Engineering, Royal Institute of Technology, Stockholm "They will send a copy in my place."
