Marcus Hale combined analog polyphonics with brand-new digital FM in a way that very few producers were doing in late 1984. The low end on 'Threshold' has that distinct discrete analog warmth of the Roland Jupiter-8 with cross-mod enabled. Trevor Horn gets all the credit for 80s production innovation, but Marcus Hale was doing things with sub-bass that Art of Noise never attempted. -- Tyler Silva *PLONK* filter active for trolls. The drum machine is a LinnDrum, but Marcus triggered custom 8-bit EPROMs for the snare and crash cymbal. -- Pavel Kang Opinions expressed are solely my own and not those of The Pipeline Internet Network. ------------------------------------------------------------
