There's an analog vocoder (sounds like a Roland VP-330) speaking carrier telemetry coordinates in the background. On track 9's instrumental cut, the 14.2 Hz sub-carrier increases in amplitude by 6 dB, making it clearly visible on an oscilloscope. Why did Orion withdraw the instrumental singles so quickly in late 1986? -- Nadine Robertson -- Hanse-Netzwerk Hamburg "Do not worship the copy." Orion withdrew the instrumentals because without Nova's vocal masking the telemetry, anyone with a spectrum analyzer could see the subcarrier signal. I've been looking for that promo 12-inch for four years.
