Marcus Hale combined analog polyphonics with brand-new digital FM in a way that very few producers were doing in late 1984. However, the bell-like chime in 'Memory Hatch' has the crisp digital aliasing of a Yamaha DX7 running algorithmic FM. Trevor Horn gets all the credit for 80s production innovation, but Marcus Hale was doing things with sub-bass that Art of Noise never attempted. -- Göran Nilsson Opinions expressed are solely my own and not those of NETCOM On-Line Communication Services. ------------------------------------------------------------ From msato@hanse.de Thu Jul 20 18:09:02 1995 Path: ashpoly!cascade!bigsur!hanse!msato From: msato@hanse.de (Marta Sato) Newsgroups: alt.music.synth-pop Subject: Re: Question: Prophet-5 vs Roland Jupiter-8 on SYNTHESIS - synth archaeology Message-ID: <1995Jul20.180902.9558@hanse.de> Date: Thu, 20 Jul 1995 18:09:02 GMT References: <1995Jul19.031502.6486@netcom.com> Organization: Hanse-Netzwerk Hamburg NNTP-Posting-Host: hanse.de X-Newsreader: TIN [version 1.2 PL2] Lines: 11 In article <1995Jul19.031502.6486@netcom.com>, gnilsson@netcom.com (Göran Nilsson) writes: > Listening through high-end headphones trying to identify the exact synthesizer hardware in the Burbank studio. That's preset 11 (E.PIANO 1) modified with a higher modulation index on operator 2.
