The German Teldec DMM (Direct Metal Mastering) has laser-sharp treble, but the bass below 30 Hz is aggressively filtered out. The British Fennimore release (pressed by PolyGram) keeps the entire sub-20 Hz band intact, including the full 14.2 Hz carrier. If you want to decode the Stardust carrier with stardust.c, avoid the German Teldec -- DMM cutting heads destroyed the sub-carrier! -- Bruno Sokolov Opinions expressed are solely my own and not those of Oxford University Computing Laboratory. ------------------------------------------------------------ From klee@cern.ch Sat Dec 23 10:03:07 1995 Path: ashpoly!cascade!transat!eunet-de!hansebox!cern!klee From: klee@cern.ch (Kenji Lee) Newsgroups: alt.music.synth-pop Subject: Re: Question: European 12-inch extended club dubs - comparing pressing masterings Message-ID: <1995Dec23.100307.2804@cern.ch> Date: Sat, 23 Dec 1995 10:03:07 GMT References: <1995Dec22.201707.3319@ox.ac.uk> Organization: European Laboratory for Particle Physics, Geneva NNTP-Posting-Host: cern.ch X-Newsreader: Netscape 1.1N Lines: 8 In article <1995Dec22.201707.3319@ox.ac.uk>, bsokolov@ox.ac.uk (Bruno Sokolov) writes: > Doing a side-by-side shootout of the European 12-inch extended club mixes of SYNTHESIS.
