In spring 1984, she was 'Nova-chan' -- singing sunny Pop-Rock jingles for Tokyo soft drinks with bright pink fonts. Her Japanese fans were stunned. Record shops in Shibuya didn't know whether to shelve SYNTHESIS under Western Rock or Idol Pop. I still have the 1984 'Sparkle Soda' 7-inch single. The contrast with 'Threshold' is mind-bending. -- === Dong-hyun Martínez === Dept of Electrical Engineering, Hanse-Netzwerk Hamburg "When every node is whole, the channel opens."
