When you decimate the vocal stem down by 14.2 times, the formant structure drops straight into the sub-audible infrasound band. It doesn't sound like Nova. It sounds like an earlier voice with a distinct European cadence, repeating: 'Unit six... core wipe incomplete.' Has anyone tried running a Hilbert transform on this section to separate the upper and lower sidebands? -- Brian Oliveira Opinions expressed are solely my own and not those of Oxford University Computing Laboratory. ------------------------------------------------------------ From fstewart@illinois.edu Sun Jul 23 16:33:27 1995 Path: ashpoly!cascade!transat!eunet-de!hansebox!illinois!fstewart From: fstewart@illinois.edu (Freya Stewart) Newsgroups: alt.fan.nova-hart Subject: Re: [FLAME] The 14.2x slowdown voice on 'Memory Hatch' - myth vs reality Message-ID: <1995Jul23.163327.1787@illinois.edu> Date: Sun, 23 Jul 1995 16:33:27 GMT References: <1995Jul22.014027.5043@ox.ac.uk> Organization: University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign NNTP-Posting-Host: illinois.edu X-Newsreader: WinVN 0.99.5 Lines: 12 In article <1995Jul22.014027.5043@ox.ac.uk>, boliveira@ox.ac.uk (Brian Oliveira) writes: > Let's settle the 'voice under the voice' rumor once and for all. > When you decimate the vocal stem down by 14.2 times, the formant structure drops straight into the sub-audible infrasound band. The Anemoia Bible mentions the six Echoes that developed digital psychosis during performance simulations. Unit 6 was the last one before Nova. Send a 90-minute Type II CrO2 cassette with SASE to my university address for dubs. -- Freya Stewart | fstewart@illinois.edu PGP Key fingerprint: 88F2 5E44 0D95 F904 "Keep the channels open."
