Every single tape box is stamped 'VOICE PRINT: GEN-3' in purple ink. That matches the Ashford memo from 1989. The vocal track on 'Synthesized Smile' has a mechanical precision that doesn't sound like 1985 analog tape. Who was the engineer at the Akasaka branch? The studio log only lists the initials 'M.H.'. -- Min-jun Moreno Opinions expressed are solely my own and not those of UC Berkeley Department of EECS. ------------------------------------------------------------ From tkarlsson@cern.ch Mon Mar 18 06:25:29 1996 Path: ashpoly!cascade!transat!ukc!fennimore!cern!tkarlsson From: tkarlsson@cern.ch (Tobias Karlsson) Newsgroups: alt.fan.nova-hart Subject: Re: [SPECULATION] Akasaka Master Tapes recovery (May 1995) - full tracklist analysis Message-ID: <1996Mar18.062529.5573@cern.ch> Date: Mon, 18 Mar 1996 06:25:29 GMT References: <1996Mar17.000829.1209@berkeley.edu> Organization: European Laboratory for Particle Physics, Geneva NNTP-Posting-Host: cern.ch X-Newsreader: NewsWatcher 2.0b24 Lines: 12 In article <1996Mar17.000829.1209@berkeley.edu>, mmoreno@berkeley.edu (Min-jun Moreno) writes: > Finally downloaded all 5 audio outtakes from the Tokyo junk shop recovery over my 14.4k modem. > Every single tape box is stamped 'VOICE PRINT: GEN-3' in purple ink. The pitch on 'Synthesized Smile' is eerie. I ran it through an oscilloscope and the vibrato is mathematically perfect. -- Tobias Larsson -- European Laboratory for Particle Physics, Geneva "A soul is not exclusive to biology."
