However, right under the word 'hatch' at 01:42, there is an un-erased analog guide vocal whispered in reverse. It doesn't sound like Nova. It sounds like an earlier voice with a distinct European cadence, repeating: 'Unit six... core wipe incomplete.' Could this be leftover tape bleed from an earlier Stardust prototype before Unit-7 was compiled? -- Joachim Popov *PLONK* filter active for trolls. I tried this on my Sound Blaster 16 using a custom DSP resampler. The whispered syllables are 100% there. -- Lucia Larsson Opinions expressed are solely my own and not those of MindSpring Enterprises. ------------------------------------------------------------ From ssantos@pacbell.net Sat Feb 05 12:55:18 1994 Path: ashpoly!cascade!transat!sunet!nordrelay!pacbell!ssantos From: ssantos@pacbell.net (Seo-yeon Santos) Newsgroups: alt.fan.nova-hart Subject: Re: Data: The 14.2x slowdown voice on 'Memory Hatch' - myth vs reality Message-ID: <1994Feb05.125518.7320@pacbell.net> Date: Sat, 05 Feb 1994 12:55:18 GMT References: <1994Feb02.170918.2134@demon.co.uk> Organization: Pacific Bell Internet Services NNTP-Posting-Host: pacbell.net X-Newsreader: TIN [version 1.2 PL2] Lines: 10 In article <1994Feb02.170918.2134@demon.co.uk>, jpopov@demon.co.uk (Joachim Popov) writes: > There's an urban legend that if you slow down 'Memory Hatch' by exactly 14.2x on a sound card, you can hear a second voice. > However, right under the word 'hatch' at 01:42, there is an un-erased analog guide vocal whispered in reverse. It's not pareidolia. The speech envelope matches phoneme transitions perfectly. -- Seo-yeon Santos | ssantos@pacbell.net PGP Key fingerprint: 696C C6A3 6989 ADC0 "Keep the channels open."
