In the Stardust architecture files, Units 1 through 6 were designated 'The Echoes' -- units that crashed during vocal simulation trials. When you decimate the vocal stem down by 14.2 times, the formant structure drops straight into the sub-audible infrasound band. Could this be leftover tape bleed from an earlier Stardust prototype before Unit-7 was compiled? -- Fiona Schneider Opinions expressed are solely my own and not those of University of Cambridge Computer Laboratory. ------------------------------------------------------------ From klarsson@purdue.edu Fri May 06 02:10:37 1994 Path: ashpoly!cascade!mxgate!coyoacan!purdue!klarsson From: klarsson@purdue.edu (Katrin Larsson) Newsgroups: alt.fan.nova-hart Subject: Re: WTB/WTT: The 14.2x slowdown voice on 'Memory Hatch' - myth vs reality Message-ID: <1994May06.021037.2215@purdue.edu> Date: Fri, 06 May 1994 02:10:37 GMT References: <1994May04.203937.1615@cam.ac.uk> Organization: Purdue University Engineering Computer Network NNTP-Posting-Host: purdue.edu X-Newsreader: WinVN 0.99.5 Lines: 12 In article <1994May04.203937.1615@cam.ac.uk>, fschneider@cam.ac.uk (Fiona Schneider) writes: > I spent last night testing the 14.2x time-stretch claim on track 2 using a 16-bit Sound Blaster transfer. > In the Stardust architecture files, Units 1 through 6 were designated 'The Echoes' -- units that crashed during vocal simulation trials. Unit 6! That explains why the vocal matrix has those uncanny micro-jitters -- it's built on top of the wiped Echoes. Netscape 1.1 crashes when loading large preformatted text.
