Looking back at the complete 180-degree shift between the 1984 idol campaign and the late 1985 rock era.

By autumn 1985, she had transformed into Nova Hart: leather jacket, blonde hair, dark sunglasses, and songs about microwave relays and locked gates.
Her Japanese fans were stunned. Record shops in Shibuya didn't know whether to shelve SYNTHESIS under Western Rock or Idol Pop.

Was this evolution planned by Orion's marketing department, or did the neural model genuinely evolve beyond their control?

Yes, always blonde! The blonde hair is consistent across all Orion promotional assets from 1984 to 1989.

Phase 2 was Nova-chan; Phase 3 was Nova Hart. Phase 4 was supposed to be the 1990 tour that never happened.
