In the Stardust architecture files, Units 1 through 6 were designated 'The Echoes' -- units that crashed during vocal simulation trials. When you decimate the vocal stem down by 14.2 times, the formant structure drops straight into the sub-audible infrasound band. Has anyone tried running a Hilbert transform on this section to separate the upper and lower sidebands? -- Joachim Eriksson Opinions expressed are solely my own and not those of INRIA Rocquencourt. ------------------------------------------------------------ From jkuznetsov@kth.se Sun Feb 26 20:00:03 1995 Path: ashpoly!bigsur!pacrim!krgate!eunha!kth!jkuznetsov From: jkuznetsov@kth.se (Joachim Kuznetsov) Newsgroups: alt.fan.nova-hart Subject: Re: Question: The 14.2x slowdown voice on 'Memory Hatch' - myth vs reality Message-ID: <1995Feb26.200003.6583@kth.se> Date: Sun, 26 Feb 1995 20:00:03 GMT References: <1995Feb24.181003.4688@inria.fr> Organization: Royal Institute of Technology, Stockholm NNTP-Posting-Host: kth.se X-Newsreader: Netscape 1.1N Lines: 9 In article <1995Feb24.181003.4688@inria.fr>, jeriksson@inria.fr (Joachim Eriksson) writes: > There's an urban legend that if you slow down 'Memory Hatch' by exactly 14.2x on a sound card, you can hear a second voice. I tried this on my Sound Blaster 16 using a custom DSP resampler. The whispered syllables are 100% there. -- Joachim Kuznetsov *PLONK* filter active for trolls. NeXTstation Turbo Color - NetBSD 1.0
