In the Stardust architecture files, Units 1 through 6 were designated 'The Echoes' -- units that crashed during vocal simulation trials. When you decimate the vocal stem down by 14.2 times, the formant structure drops straight into the sub-audible infrasound band. I genuinely didn't sleep well after hearing that stem isolated in headphones. -- Graham Hernández Opinions expressed are solely my own and not those of NETCOM On-Line Communication Services. ------------------------------------------------------------ From fnilsson@mit.edu Fri Oct 21 19:58:47 1994 Path: ashpoly!cascade!brgate!saturno!mit!fnilsson From: fnilsson@mit.edu (Freya Nilsson) Newsgroups: alt.fan.nova-hart Subject: Re: The 14.2x slowdown voice on 'Memory Hatch' - myth vs reality Message-ID: <1994Oct21.195847.9873@mit.edu> Date: Fri, 21 Oct 1994 19:58:47 GMT References: <1994Oct21.133247.2341@netcom.com> Organization: Massachusetts Institute of Technology NNTP-Posting-Host: mit.edu X-Newsreader: WinVN 0.99.5 Lines: 11 In article <1994Oct21.133247.2341@netcom.com>, ghernandez@netcom.com (Graham Hernández) writes: > I spent last night testing the 14.2x time-stretch claim on track 2 using a 16-bit Sound Blaster transfer. I tried this on my Sound Blaster 16 using a custom DSP resampler. The whispered syllables are 100% there.
