Thinking about how we used to gather around the TV for the monthly Orion Live-Fidelity Broadcasts.

We thought we were watching a live concert in a distant stadium. We had no idea the crowd roar was a synthesizer loop.
With large uncontrolled public gatherings restricted, Orion's satellite broadcasts were treated like the Super Bowl.

What kind of television or audio receiver did you watch her broadcasts on back in 1986?

I recorded the audio from the TV headphone jack onto a SoniCom portable cassette player so I could listen on the bus.

We had a Zenith console in our basement. My brother and I held up lighters to the TV screen during 'Threshold'.

Let's not romanticize government bans on live music. It was censorship and corporate control, plain and simple.
