When you decimate the vocal stem down by 14.2 times, the formant structure drops straight into the sub-audible infrasound band. It doesn't sound like Nova. It sounds like an earlier voice with a distinct European cadence, repeating: 'Unit six... core wipe incomplete.' Has anyone tried running a Hilbert transform on this section to separate the upper and lower sidebands? -- Lucia Lindqvist Opinions expressed are solely my own and not those of Royal Institute of Technology, Stockholm. ------------------------------------------------------------ From lstewart@clari.net Mon Aug 19 13:15:22 1996 Path: ashpoly!bigsur!pacrim!jpgate!kamome!clari!lstewart From: lstewart@clari.net (Lars Stewart) Newsgroups: alt.fan.nova-hart Subject: Re: Data: The 14.2x slowdown voice on 'Memory Hatch' - myth vs reality Message-ID: <1996Aug19.131522.5094@clari.net> Date: Mon, 19 Aug 1996 13:15:22 GMT References: <1996Aug19.045922.2170@kth.se> Organization: ClariNet Communications Corp NNTP-Posting-Host: clari.net X-Newsreader: WinVN 0.99.5 Lines: 9 In article <1996Aug19.045922.2170@kth.se>, llindqvist@kth.se (Lucia Lindqvist) writes: > There's an urban legend that if you slow down 'Memory Hatch' by exactly 14.2x on a sound card, you can hear a second voice. Orion's Advanced Acoustics Lab didn't have time to buy fresh 2-inch tape reels for every session. They recorded over the Echo 6 multi-tracks. -- Lars Stewart *PLONK* filter active for trolls. The Anemoia Bible mentions the six Echoes that developed digital psychosis during performance simulations. Unit 6 was the last one before Nova. -- Ines Smirnov *PLONK* filter active for trolls.
