It doesn't sound like Nova. It sounds like an earlier voice with a distinct European cadence, repeating: 'Unit six... core wipe incomplete.' When you decimate the vocal stem down by 14.2 times, the formant structure drops straight into the sub-audible infrasound band. Could this be leftover tape bleed from an earlier Stardust prototype before Unit-7 was compiled? -- Fiona Larsson Opinions expressed are solely my own and not those of UC Berkeley Department of EECS. ------------------------------------------------------------ From meriksson@cam.ac.uk Mon Sep 04 22:11:25 1995 Path: ashpoly!cascade!brgate!saturno!cam!meriksson From: meriksson@cam.ac.uk (Mei Eriksson) Newsgroups: alt.fan.nova-hart Subject: Re: The 14.2x slowdown voice on 'Memory Hatch' - myth vs reality Message-ID: <1995Sep04.221125.7598@cam.ac.uk> Date: Mon, 04 Sep 1995 22:11:25 GMT References: <1995Sep03.155725.1397@berkeley.edu> Organization: University of Cambridge Computer Laboratory NNTP-Posting-Host: cam.ac.uk X-Newsreader: WinVN 0.99.5 Lines: 12 In article <1995Sep03.155725.1397@berkeley.edu>, flarsson@berkeley.edu (Fiona Larsson) writes: > There's an urban legend that if you slow down 'Memory Hatch' by exactly 14.2x on a sound card, you can hear a second voice. > It doesn't sound like Nova.
