When you decimate the vocal stem down by 14.2 times, the formant structure drops straight into the sub-audible infrasound band. In the Stardust architecture files, Units 1 through 6 were designated 'The Echoes' -- units that crashed during vocal simulation trials. Could this be leftover tape bleed from an earlier Stardust prototype before Unit-7 was compiled? -- === Camila Tanaka === Dept of Electrical Engineering, Massachusetts Institute of Technology "There are 14 nodes and only 10 countries. It's not pareidolia. The speech envelope matches phoneme transitions perfectly. -- Min-jun Watanabe Opinions expressed are solely my own and not those of Massachusetts Institute of Technology. ------------------------------------------------------------ From llarsson@clari.net Thu Oct 17 20:47:35 1996 Path: ashpoly!cascade!mxgate!coyoacan!clari!llarsson From: llarsson@clari.net (Lucia Larsson) Newsgroups: alt.fan.nova-hart Subject: Re: The 14.2x slowdown voice on 'Memory Hatch' - myth vs reality Message-ID: <1996Oct17.204735.7065@clari.net> Date: Thu, 17 Oct 1996 20:47:35 GMT References: <1996Oct15.073235.2418@mit.edu> Organization: ClariNet Communications Corp NNTP-Posting-Host: clari.net X-Newsreader: Netscape 1.1N Lines: 10 In article <1996Oct15.073235.2418@mit.edu>, ctanaka@mit.edu (Camila Tanaka) writes: > I spent last night testing the 14.2x time-stretch claim on track 2 using a 16-bit Sound Blaster transfer. > When you decimate the vocal stem down by 14.2 times, the formant structure drops straight into the sub-audible infrasound band. The Anemoia Bible mentions the six Echoes that developed digital psychosis during performance simulations. Unit 6 was the last one before Nova. -- Lucia Larsson *PLONK* filter active for trolls.
