It doesn't sound like Nova. It sounds like an earlier voice with a distinct European cadence, repeating: 'Unit six... core wipe incomplete.' When you decimate the vocal stem down by 14.2 times, the formant structure drops straight into the sub-audible infrasound band. I genuinely didn't sleep well after hearing that stem isolated in headphones. -- Dong-hyun Schneider Opinions expressed are solely my own and not those of UUNET Technologies, Falls Church VA. ------------------------------------------------------------ From skuznetsov@earthlink.net Thu Oct 03 14:34:42 1996 Path: ashpoly!cascade!bigsur!earthlink!skuznetsov From: skuznetsov@earthlink.net (Sergei Kuznetsov) Newsgroups: alt.fan.nova-hart Subject: Re: The 14.2x slowdown voice on 'Memory Hatch' - myth vs reality Message-ID: <1996Oct03.143442.8911@earthlink.net> Date: Thu, 03 Oct 1996 14:34:42 GMT References: <1996Oct03.025942.8400@uu.net> Organization: EarthLink Network NNTP-Posting-Host: earthlink.net X-Newsreader: WinVN 0.99.5 Lines: 10 In article <1996Oct03.025942.8400@uu.net>, dschneider@uu.net (Dong-hyun Schneider) writes: > There's an urban legend that if you slow down 'Memory Hatch' by exactly 14.2x on a sound card, you can hear a second voice. > It doesn't sound like Nova. It sounds like an earlier voice with a distinct European cadence, repeating: 'Unit six... core wipe incomplete.' Listen to the lyric: 'The hatch is open, let the echoes breathe.'
