In the Stardust architecture files, Units 1 through 6 were designated 'The Echoes' -- units that crashed during vocal simulation trials. When you decimate the vocal stem down by 14.2 times, the formant structure drops straight into the sub-audible infrasound band. Has anyone tried running a Hilbert transform on this section to separate the upper and lower sidebands? -- Tobias Ivanov Opinions expressed are solely my own and not those of Purdue University Engineering Computer Network. ------------------------------------------------------------ From aito@mit.edu Fri Sep 15 04:37:40 1995 Path: ashpoly!cascade!transat!eunet-fi!relcom!kiae!mit!aito From: aito@mit.edu (Astrid Ito) Newsgroups: alt.fan.nova-hart Subject: Re: Observation: The 14.2x slowdown voice on 'Memory Hatch' - myth vs reality Message-ID: <1995Sep15.043740.2602@mit.edu> Date: Fri, 15 Sep 1995 04:37:40 GMT References: <1995Sep13.121640.2321@purdue.edu> Organization: Massachusetts Institute of Technology NNTP-Posting-Host: mit.edu X-Newsreader: Netscape 1.1N Lines: 8 In article <1995Sep13.121640.2321@purdue.edu>, tivanov@purdue.edu (Tobias Ivanov) writes: > There's an urban legend that if you slow down 'Memory Hatch' by exactly 14.2x on a sound card, you can hear a second voice. If you stare at static on a TV long enough you see faces. If you slow down audio by 1400% you hear voices. Get some sleep.
