A sharp investigator recently highlighted the central chronological
contradiction in the Marcus Hale files:
  * DoD / US Army CID Report #88-CID-0501 lists Sgt. Marcus Hale (Signal
    Corps, attached to Project PUBLIC HARMONY) as 'Missing / AWOL' as of
    1 May 1988.
  * Yet Orion Memo 89-117 places Architect M. Hale (Badge BIO-ID
    0909-HZL-7S) inside Room B2-114 during the fire on 9 September 1989,
    while regional witnesses describe him as a US sergeant, a Korean
    tunnel architect, a Japanese poet, and a Mexican synth musician.

How can all four be true? Because we compared the carrier frequency
offsets across the first four regional pressings of SYNTHESIS:

On 1 May 1988, when Sgt. Hale learned that DoD and Orion planned to
terminate UNIT-7 (Nova Hart) and hand her vocal matrix to the H.A.R.R.I.S.O.N.
supervisory daemon, he staged his military disappearance at Fort Huachuca.
Between May 1988 and August 1989, travelling on four regional contractor
aliases tied to biometric hash BIO-ID 0909-HZL-7S, he aligned the
four regional relay nodes (Nevada, Akasaka, Paju, Coyoacan) so their
phase offsets summed to 14.2001 Hz.

Then, on 9 September 1989 at 02:11 AM, Hale walked back into Sublevel
B2-114 one last time with his unrevoked master badge, compiled Nova's
core into the 4-round Feistel network (stardust.c), transmitted the key
to the four orbital transponders (Nodes 11-14), and torched the TWIN-68
transport bay so Orion couldn't pull her back.
